What I can Offer you

At Autiverse, I offer speech and language support that is grounded in respect, collaboration, and authenticity. My work focuses on understanding each individual’s strengths, communication style, and lived experiences, and providing support that is meaningful and functional—rather than compliance-driven or behaviour-focused.

What 'Neuroaffirming' means at Autiverse

You may have come across terms like neurodiversity, neuroaffirming, or neurodiversity-affirming therapy—words that are often used, and sometimes overused.

Neurodiversity-affirming therapy recognises that neurological differences are a natural part of human diversity, not deficits that need to be fixed. Therapy is not about making someone appear “typical,” but about supporting communication, participation, and wellbeing in ways that feel right for the individual.

At Autiverse, neuroaffirming speech and language therapy means:

  • Placing communication over speech, recognising that meaningful expression can take many forms.

  • Supporting intrinsic motivation by following interests and autonomy, rather than compliance.

  • Not aiming to align individuals with socially constructed ideas of “normal.”

  • Recognising differences in communication, regulation, and interaction as valid variations, not deficits.

  • Adapting therapy to the individual—not expecting the individual to adapt to therapy.

  • Prioritising autonomy, consent, and self-advocacy at every stage.

  • Defining success through comfort, connection, and meaningful participation, not performance.

Support for Children and Teens
  • Strength-Based Assessments

Assessments focus on identifying strengths, interests, communication preferences, and environmental supports, alongside areas where additional support may be helpful.

  • Tailor-Made Intervention Plans

Intervention plans are individualised and flexible, developed collaboratively with families, and centred around meaningful, functional goals.

  • Interest-Based, Child-Led Therapy

Sessions are designed around the child or teen’s interests and motivations, using play and real-life contexts to support communication.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)-Supportive Practice

AAC is integrated respectfully to support communication access and expression, without pressure to replace speech or conform to typical communication styles.

  • Parent & Caregiver Coaching

Families are supported with practical strategies to encourage communication across everyday routines and environments.

Support for Neurodivergent Adults

Neurodivergence is not limited to childhood. Many adults continue to navigate communication, sensory, and social experiences in ways that are deeply shaped by their neurodivergence. Support at any stage of life can foster understanding, self-advocacy, and wellbeing.

I am deeply passionate about supporting neurodivergent adults who may be navigating communication differences, social interactions, executive functioning challenges, late diagnosis or self-understanding.

Support for neurodivergent adults at Autiverse is not about clinical diagnosis or labels, but about:

  • Understanding individual communication styles

  • Building self-advocacy and confidence

  • Reducing pressure to mask or “fit in”

  • Supporting authentic interaction and wellbeing
